Obama For President?

"There's no doubt that hip-hop culture moves our young people powerfully. And some of it is not just a reflection of reality," he added. "It also creates reality. I think that if all our kids see is a glorification of materialism and bling and casual sex and kids are never seeing themselves reflected as hitting the books and being responsible and delaying gratification, then they are getting an unrealistic picture of what the world is like."-Barack Obama

I love Obama. This man has said in this statement what has taken me so long to realize myself and its 100% true. My question is how can hip hop help the situation. Im not sure. Record labels refuse to support positive music anymore.....case in point Atlantic Records...drops Little Brother after lackluster sales..But is ride or die with Gucci Mane (lol, i have to laugh when i hear his name) after a murder charge.

I do know how we hurt the situation. My small country ass town is full of gangbangers. Crips and bloods in eastern NC. Whos fault is that. Say what you want, i thank my good friends Snoop, The Game, Juelz Santana, and Lil Wayne for that.

Do we take responsibility for the clear problems the music creates, or do we defend the music when it is unfairly targeted. ?

I love the way you write and I want to make sweet love to you immediately...

Side from that, to answer your question...i do believe we do have to take responsibility for the problems that music creates. Music, for ever has been a way to communicate, a way to shape or form our culture...from using music to escape from slave owners, through using music to empower us to march, if we are to take the messages music has now...what would it tell us? What is it saying?

Kill, fuck, shot, slang, don't stop get it, get it? How do you follow that?

Right now...we have to as the adults take a more proactive role to what we let shape our children. We cannot let them have full autonomy because they alone cannot filter the real from the bullshit.

Gangs in Goldsboro is a joke...but who else is teaching them brotherhood?
